Starting our Week with Worship
I am blessed to work in a Christian school. Every week, the teachers take turns taking the Kindergarten-5th grades into their respective classrooms Monday mornings for a 15 minute devotion. Today was my turn.
Come, let us sing for joy to the LORD; let us shout aloud to the Rock of our salvation.
Today I chose to just worship with the kids. One of my high school students agreed to help accompany my voice by playing the guitar for me. It is so refreshing to find youth willing to serve in this capacity. We chose the song “Your Great Name” and as we sang, the voices of 52 little people filled my room with an amazing peace. After we spent about 5 minutes singing, we talked about Yeshua’s death and resurrection. We talked about how he took our punishment and how his blood removes our sin. After that, I led the whole group in the sinner’s prayer. When the bell rang for our Monday to officially begin, I looked at the smiling faces and was reminded just how precious every single one of them is to God.
I think kids often feel like maybe when they grow up they will follow Jesus (Yeshua). They see themselves as too little to make a difference. Last week, I taught the K-2nd grade that their spirit is not a little thing! They are mighty through God and their individual relationships with God matter right now!
He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see and fear the LORD and put their trust in him.
